Yesterday we set the ground rules. One photo or video clip per day for 25 days. At the end we’ll stitch it together into a fun memento. Each day I’ll feature some inspiring photos and video from contributors around the web and occasionally some wacky stuff from my own world.
On this second day of Advent, we broke out the Christmas music and unpacked a few random decorations. As the kids pretended to waltz to Bing Crosby, I was able to snap a few photos. Unfortunately, the low lighting of the room didn’t lend itself well to video recording, unless you like a lot of digital noise in your shots.
Out came the Advent calendar. We enjoy the kind you can fill with random trinkets or chocolate. Ours calendar looks quite cozy in the corner by the Santa pillow.

Santa looks so comfy on the rocker. Think I’ll join him in a bit. Taking this photo in such low lighting was a bit tricky. The flash killed any ambience, so I switched the camera to high-ISO without flash. Of course, this leaves the shutter hanging open, so you usually wind up with a shaky shot. No problem. Put on the timer, set the camera on a tripod (stack of books), click the shutter and step away. No camera shake.
Here’s a whimsical video from Vimeo to get your filmmaker juices going:

Looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully our Advent ice rink will look more like a rink than a swimming pool.

Thanks Miato! Let me know if you have any photos or video clips of holiday decorating and I’ll see if they’ll work for one day of the Advent project.
