Well, I had another post all lined up for today and then a monumental event occurred which simply had to get an immediate post. Remember G.I. Joe from Halloween? On Day 16 of Advent, G.I. Joe lost his front teeth.

And here’s G.I. Joe today:
Toothless disguised G.I. Joe
Huh? Is G.I. Joe in disguise? Well, he decided to dress up for the occasion as St. George. So, instead of showing him in the living room, I plunked him in the middle of a German forest.
Why St. George? Who knows what goes through the mind of a miniature G.I. Joe? Why the German forest? St. George is the patron saint of a bunch of countries in Europe. Other than that, this particular St. George did go on a hike through this particular German forest when just a wee tot. See where the storytelling comes in?
Here’s how I created the photo:
- I took a photo of St. George in the living room.
- I brought it into Photoshop, used the quick selection tool (w) and moved him to a new layer. Always make sure to zoom in and feather when using this tool.
- I opened an old photo of a German forest I had shot several years ago.
- Using the move tool, I moved the German forest into the St. George photo.
- Photoshop automatically moves a new layer to the top, so with the layer selected, I hit ( cmd-[ ) or go to the menu (layer>send backward) to drop the forest behind St. George but in front of the living room.
