Do you share photos online?
Do you backup your digital photos on a regular basis?
Personally, I backup my photos to DVD and external hard drive, but if you don’t have a DVD burner or time, here is a fantastic way to both share and archive your photos.
Kodak has gotten some bad press lately because they are charging for online photo storage, but really they are the best deal around.
With the latest update to their Terms of Service, customers will have to order a mere $5 worth of merchandise per year for the privilege of storing up to 2GB of photos on their server. $20 worth of merchandise if they have more than 2Gb.
Depending on your camera’s settings, 2 Gb (gigabytes) is anywhere from about 300 to 3000 photos, about a years worth of photos.
That’s not a $5 or $20 fee; you actually get $5 worth of photo products AND you get to store your photos for free AND you don’t have to bother backing up your own photos to disc or backup drive AND you can share them for free with friends and family AND, drumroll please, you can download your high resolution photos for FREE!

Don’t know the difference between high resolution and high altitude? A high resolution photo is a big file with enough info to enable your printer to print out a great looking photograph. A low resolution photo is a small file, easily shared by email or posted online, but looks really bad when printed.
The company that I currently use for online photo sharing does allow me to store all my photos online for free, without a minimum purchase. However, should I ever want to download my hi-resolution photos, the ones I originally had on my camera and uploaded to them in the first place, I have to pay for the privilege. Sure, it’s not a lot, but 5 cents per photo adds up quickly.
So, I can just store ALL my digital photos online, organize them into albums online, share them with friends online, download them for free whenever I need them and not have to bother with backup discs at all?
What are they going to do next? Pay me to take photos? Gotta love Kodak.
